I have owned this pistol since the early 1970's and carried it a lot as an off duty gun back then as a Deputy Sheriff in Santa Barbara County, CA. At the time installing S&W target sights was a common alteration for LEO because they were lower than other target style sights such as Micro or Bomar. The sights were installed by a pistol smith named James Hoag in Canoga Park, CA. He did an excellent job.

Thank you very much for a nice comment. I don't really baby my firearms but I do take care of them. Ones I have had for years such as this one do show scratches, dings and nicks but every one of them can be relied upon as if my life depended on it.

Thank you very much Jack. I have carried it quite a bit in a holster but also just stuck in my belt when I first got it. Never did have a problem. It is big enough and heavy enough it never did go anywhere.

It is still a very accurate pistol when I do my part. I am just sitting here thinking I have had it over 50 years now. Both of us still going strong.

Great gun and nicely photographed Dennis! Hoag is familiar to any of us into firearms as his reputation was always beyond reproach.

Nice! And still in good shape with some honest holster wear.
Here's a nice little bio of Jim Hoag:https://www.chuckhawks.com/jim_hoag.html
