Why did you make two posts when you could have added the photo to the first?

New gear will NOT make Photoshop fun again! You need to look closer to home.

Thaz understandable. But some of that clutter comes from so many folks doing what you just did. Seems like a "lose-lose" bargain however you slice it :-(

My response was from my own experience. Reseating the lens and cleaning the contacts fixed my problem. Period. I don't need your comments.

Or .... just read the thread, where you will find the real solution !

But credit where credit is due, congratulations for NOT even mentioning "two button reset". Good on you !

I find that following a thread on UHH is like a blind man trying to find the light. Too many dead ends and misdirections let alone completely off topic comments.

I've been using the Photo Shop editing option for years when using Lightroom (LR) in post - but suddenly that editing option isn't working, apparently not even available. My usual sequence is to right click on my LR image and select PhotoShop as the editing tool. Then PhotoShop takes over the computer screen and I'm able to do things like add my digital signature. Not working now. Has anyone out there experienced this?

Under Lightroom Classic->Preferences->External Editing is the version of PS installed on your computer accurately reflected in the "Photoshop version" tab?

AFAIK this is automatically updated when you update PS.

Odd it WAS working.

I pulled it out of the drawer and swapped lenses before turning it on. Would not autofocus. Toggle M/AF switch on lens. Still won’t autofocus. Power cycled, no good. Swapped back to 24-200mm and it still won’t autofocus.
Checked menu:
A6 AF Activation is set to AF-ON only

But pressing the AF-ON button does not activate the focus system.

Anyone had this problem or have any suggestions?

Besides re-seating the lens you may have dirty contacts. Clean them with a clean art gum eraser and carefully blow off any residue so as not to have it drop into the camera body.

Hey gang, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on tripods for a trip to Iceland. I have 2 tripods. One is a lightweight Dolica Proline which I have had for several years and it is very compact. The other is a Sirui S-2205-N which I am using with a Sirui K-40X ball head. The Sirui is pretty much a monster for handling weight. The Dolica can handle my weight limits, but I wondered what others had done in their travels to Iceland. My goal is to take some longer exposures with ND filters and of course capture the Northern Lights. I may use an attached speedlight if necessary. The main concern I have is wind and what others found to consider on this trip. Either tripod will be packed as non carry-on due to just the airline bag requirements for size. Thanks for reading.

Some tidbits:
1. Avoid any lava ash beaches (e.g. just west of Hofn) if there is any wind. I was there once with the wind blowing and several other members of the group destroyed their len's front elements due to the abrasive nature of the ash which comprises the "sand".

2. The last time I visited I needed a PIN for my credit card to buy gas. Your CC Company should be able to get this set up without difficulty. I did not run into any ability to select "fill tank" at any of the stations I visited. If you should rent a diesel powered vehicle there are usually thin plastic gloves in a contained on the pump island so you don't get diesel on your hand.

Winds can be a problem or not. I was stationed there for a year in the 1970s (when the International Airport was a US Naval Base), and there were as many dead calm days as windy days. That said, consider a dog leash screw that will allow you to strap your tripod to the ground. You will need a strap attachment for the bottom of your tripod. Something on the order of this.

FASCINATING Stuff! We've all seen AI cloning voices, videos - - just about all media available in the world. AI is even trying to clone works of art and imitate the artistic styles of well known / famous talent. Well THAT may come to an end - real soon now. There are several platforms that offer FREE digital image encoding such that if many such encoded images are entered into an AI database, that database will become corrupted to the point that requesting the AI produce an image of a Cat produces a Dog, Snail, or something totally uninterpretable. Artists that distribute their works in digital format (we used to call them 'comic books') would do well to encode each page using this technology to prevent their characters and styles from being stolen/replicated. Please see the attached article from MIT Tech Review, Vol 137, Jan/Feb 2024

Non techie looking for assistance on selecting Desktop Computer for editing photos using Photoshop and Lightroom. Current preference would be to move from Laptop back to desktop. Assume 64GB RAM and at least 1TB Internal SSD drive. I am not sure of Min Specs are for Photoshop and Lightroom for Graphics Card selection.

Thanks in advance
