I did indeed get some excellent ideas and they keep on coming in.
Search the B&H website, or call them for help in locating the type of device that might work for you. No better place to go for help.
Not everyone can decifier short cuts. There are just too many of them. It would help if it had been done as follows;
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
I had to wave through a lot of responses to find out what you were straddle with. I thought it was something mechanical which tweaked my curiosity. Now knowing what CHF is, I could have skipped your question and saved time.
By the way CHF is not mildly disabled. It is very, very serious.
I wish you well with your health.
Hi Pentony,
I didn't mean to confuse folks with the CHF initials. Guess I have lived with it so long that's just how I think of it. As to the seriousness of it, of course I know it's serious. But thank the good Lord I have it pretty much under control and about the only thing it keeps me from doing is walking very far or exercising as much as I should. Every time I park in a handicapped zone I feel like a fraud because I don't have any visible disabilities like so many do. So relatively speaking my disability is a mild one.

I have the same feeling in the handicapped parking after seeing what some people go through. Although I walk sort of wobbly even with my cane, people can't see the ten stents I have to keep the blood flowing. I am good for about 100 feet and then it is rest time.

I thought only McDonald's had secret sauce. But I wouldn't inject that.

I'm Being Funded for Nearly A Billion (US) To BUILD The Worlds Largest Stem Cell Hospital IN BELIZE!! SOON!!
I hate to pop anyone's bubble, but last I knew stem cell injection "might" result in improvement in rats with spinal cord injuries. A billion dollar hospital "might" help a lot of rats.
Sorry to inject skepticism into an otherwise informative thread. :?
TO: Ol' Frank & Thombar: hold you heads up high. What people think about you is irrelevant. You qualified for a handicap sticker so keep using it.
I know the feeling of being continually negatively prejudged simply by the color of my skin without folks knowing me.
You're not responsible for their ignorance. Keep enjoying your life.
Hi Petony,
Well spoken my friend, well spoken!

Thom
LOL - this happens so often to folks like you and even myself some times. My handicap comes & goes - there are times my legs just will not co operate with my artificial knees with the pain and weakness coming at it's own time and amount. Therefor to ensure a good day of photography I too use one of my electric scooters/chairs.
I have limited my camera support equipment to a good sturdy 3 joint tripod that I keep set with the small/short legs collapsed so I can use the tripod as a cane/support when I want to stand up/get out of the chair. my other item is my Op/Tec camera harness that allows my camera to ride snugly against my chest at easy/instant access. This works very well with a bridge camera with IS - I used a Lumix FZ18 - now I am using Canon Rebel 400d w/18-55 -Sure wish it had IS but a fast shutter works well too.
Car shows, county fairs and park paths are a breeze.

Although I cannot contribute to this discussion through personal experience (not yet anyway), I would like to thank each and everyone of you for overcoming your handicaps to continue photography. You are all an inspiration. Thank you.
Hi Harvey: Do you have a link for: Op/Tec camera harness?

Hey Thombar,
I had a stroke in 2004 that nearly cost me my life, I have had prostate cancer, a hernia, and only one kidney that functions. I am a diabetic, I have a pacemaker, and I'm only 52. It's my experience is to always look forward and never behind you.
Set your goals and do not let ANYONE tell you that you can't do it. Not even your doctors. That's how I approach my challenges.
Best wishes.
Hi Brokeweb,
Sounds like I should be counting my blessings in stead of my limitations! Course that is always the best course of action.
Regards,
Thom
