Welcome to UHH, AnchorageAK. Hope you have fun on this addictive forum.
I like #3 for the interesting verticals of the trees, their textures and shadows in the side light, and the way they lead you back to the forest.
#2 has some interest, maybe a bit more contrast? Also I'd crop an inch or two off the right side.
#1 appears to be a bit out of focus and the white sky is not ideal.
Often, the best b&w are studies of shapes, forms, textures, patterns, shadows and light.
Thank you, Linda from Maine.
These were taken with a Nikon N90s on Tri-X 400.
I will reprint them taking your suggestions into account.

Thank you again.
I found out what my b/w problem was. The images were in tiff format out of the scanner.
Here are some jpeg. Please tell me if that makes any difference. They are all from film.

I like these better. Seemed to make a difference especially with the 3rd one.

I have done some work with these. Still film but now in jpeg.
I like your pictures, B&W pictures makes the viewer focus on the subject or idea without the distraction of the colors. Pictures are very nice. good work
