Back in the day my dad, Dees dad and our uncles would get their slides developed and returned from Seattle Film Works or the corner drug store, and everybody would be invited over for a Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon meal. Afterwards, of course, the silver screen would be set up at one end of the room and the projector placed on the card table in the middle of the room with a book or a deck of cards propping it to center up on the screen. Then the fun began as we all relived their summer vacation chronology through the slide show on the screen. In my youth I was mesmerized by the images of natures beauty and the fun captures of family members as their travelogue unfolded. As I got older I began to recognize there was a lot of money wasted on film and development of bad pictures. But I have to say I was inspired by the few really good ones that were invariably there.
Summer break is nearly done and school days are almost here again, around here at least, and kids will be back in school in just a couple of weeks. So while theyve been off you all have surely had some good times with them (or without them) that youve captured. I want to see your vacation pictures, whether it was a special trip with all, or stay-cation / play-cation in your own back yard. Bore me with you vacation slide show. I promise I will love them.
Our big one so far this year was of course the family excursion to Kauai i last month that Ive already been boring yall with, a destination celebration for our 50th wedding anniversary.
Backed the zodiac into a sea cave to see a waterfall!
Talked the grandson into ...

Great start for the challenge lhammer, And a big thank you for hosting.
I remember those nights we had slides and movies. My baby brother he just turned 60 has digitized the movies and I have gotten the slides digitized. They do take some work as they were not stored in the best conditions. Speaking of Seattle Film Works those slides seem to have the best survival.
Dad was 60 when this was taken, that is me in the back ground.
Staycation, material for deck repair

Love panoramas, and you do a nice job with them. Couldn't resist making one of the cloud formation over the condo coming back from an early morning walk along the shore line.

I know what your talking about. They don't stay dust free for some reason. Still got a lot to work on myself.
My kind of staycation by the way :P
My husband and I were forced to staycation this year, I'm afraid. But it was more of a surgerycation for both of us. I'm telling you, we are quite the pair. He had his right shoulder operated on, the beginning of May, and I had my left shoulder done, 3 weeks ago. So, not even any fishing done this year. I'll have to see if I can round up some pictures of our vacation last year when we were able to travel through to Utah, Idaho, and Montana to see the kids and grand kids before returning to Missouri. Also looking forward to seeing all the pictures that everyone here has to show. I will live vicariously through all of you, if you don't mind.
Going to be a fun challenge lhammer! I look forward to seeing the posts! Looks to me like everyone in this picture is relaxed and on vacation! :-) Thanks for hosting!
