Fotki no longer free as of Oct 1,2015: I have been using Fotki for about 20 years. I guess free isn't forever. I have been playing with Photo Bucket for about 5 months. Seems harder...

I have been using Fotki for about 20 years. I guess free isn't forever. I have been playing with Photo Bucket for about 5 months. Seems harder since I am not use to it. Do you have a free favorite and why.

Ron, although I don't use it a lot, mostly just evaluation, I've found Light Zone to be an adequately good editor. It's free. Even comes with a complimentary learning curve.

I looked at the Fotki web page and could not find anywhere that they charge a fee. I have never heard of this photo service and would like to find out more. Could you direct me to the link that shows that they will be charging a fee in the future. I'm also looking for a good and free web to display photo's.

If I am going to print one of my shots I use Elements 11. I found it easy to send a album to friends using Fotki so they could enjoy the photo's and order any if they wanted.

I am now using Zenfolio and I have my own domain(which is at present dormant), but still paying for it. The Zenfolio is some what more costly than Fotki, I'm in no way a Pro just a guy trying to share my photo's on the net so family can also see.

If you think that is moaning so be it. I tried to inform those that use it what will take place Oct. 1st. They have not been reliable as they lost member albums, mine included, and took 1 year to get them all back. The last thing I would do is pay for this companys poor performance. This was the very first site I ever used since going digital. Just looking for a replacement that others like.

Ron, I apologize. I'm not unsympathetic regarding your question and have been mulling over creating a blog or using some other 3rd party site myself. That said, if you became dissatisfied some time ago (and it sounds as tho you had good reason) why wait until now, the 11th hour, to find something else?

I think they stumbled when they were moving their servers. In any case, I store my won images and use Fotki as reference/easy display. I believe they are back, better than ever. Give them a chance
