Hi all. I bought the 7d mark 2 back when it was just released ,one of my lens is the canon 16/35 2.8 I wasn't very happy with the focus everything was soft so I did a micro adjustment and to my surprise I had to go to a +14 for wide and +5 for telephoto which made all tack sharp. I have firmware 1.0.2 which is original in camera. I have been reading version 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 corrects this issue with this specific lens. my question is do I upgrade or leave it status quo .since I'm happy with the focus issue. I don't see anything in later upgrade that effects me now. thank-you everyone

Firmware updates general fix more than one issue and sometimes they actually add new features.
Since this latest update addresses a focus issue with your specific lens, I'd say....do the update. It only takes about 10 minutes.
It means that you will have to redo the micro adjust but that isn't a big deal.

Why rock the boat....leave well enough alone. Don't look for trouble.

Speaking as a man who works for a computer hardware/software company.....the first thing a support rep is likely to ask is....."are you on the latest firmware."
In this day and age, most issues with HW and Software are resolved via updates.
The 1.05 firmware for the 7DII has been out for about a week and I haven't seen anyone crying about induced problems.

In my opinion......not doing firmware updates is like not getting you teeth looked after until you feel pain.

Just one man's opinion.

Hi all. I bought the 7d mark 2 back when it was ju... (show quote)

You should be running the current firmware, 1.0.5
Copy down the settings you currently have for your 16-35mm so you can reapply them if necessary. Since the firmware addresses focus issues for your specific lens, you may not need to reapply MFA once updated. Follow the firmware update instructions completely.

If you look at the firmware details it usually mentions what issues are being corrected or addressed by the firmware upgrade and any new features.

Focus issues for the 16-35 f/2.8, which the OP owns, was addressed in the latest release.
