Yikes, kitchen closed! Same here, our feeders got smothered but warmer is on the way.
Btw, your picture does a great job of story telling, nice work!

Thank you for your reply. The snow blew off the feeder a few hours after I took this. Yep! Kitchen was closed.

It can be no birds no matter what the weather is on some days here. The small ones are smart and know when to hide out when a Hawk has been around. So there are some days when they yard will just be "dead".

Those birdless days are sad when you are wanting to get some good pictures.

You must be in the north western part of Indiana. Not much where I am in Plainfield. Know what you mean by some days being dead at the feeders. Have a hawk or two that visit us. Caught him in my front lawn one day having a meal. Ugh

I live in Otterbein, a small town about a 10 minute drive from West Lafayette. I don't see many different kinds of birds and have never seen a hawk around my area of town. I have a daughter who lives in Brownsburg who came to see me yesterday. She mentioned the increase in the amount of snow coverage when she got into Tippecanoe county. We had about 6 1/2 inches, but about 12 miles North of here got 12 inches. Schools were closed for 3 days.
