Last night 3 of us went to the Mountain to view the Perseids meteor shower.
The Moon was up for most of it and restricted our viewing to the medium
and larger meteors. Once the moon set most of the storm was over. But we
did see a couple hundred. Annette, my significant other, thoroughly enjoyed
herself. She had never seen anything like that before. I did start shooting
at 2:00 AM and missed the bulk for the storm. I did get 5 good frames out
of 75 I shot. I was pointed at Perseus and of course they were popping off
all around the framing.
In shot #1 you will see the Meteor and the Andromeda Galaxy at 9:00,
the Triangulum Galaxy at a close 6:00, the Double Cluster at 8:00 in the
Milky Way and the Ploidies at a far 6:00. The second shot is a crop of
the first. Everything was shot at 16mm, 30 sec, ISO 1250, f/2.8 with my
Nikon D800E and Tokina 16-28mm Lens.

At least you got something. It has been thunderstorms and total cloud cover here for the past two days.

Absolutely gorgeous images Craig!
You can't see the sky for all the stars up there on your mountain.
Very well done!

Thank you so much Sonny I took your advice on my exposures
and had a great time on the Mountain.

Looks good. Lots of color in those meteors.
Astronomical event in Los Angeles = Clouds and Fog.
Alright Ironsides!!
Beautiful shots away from all that city light clutter.
You have some very beautiful shots there my friend.
I was up at 3:30 shooting until almost 6.
I managed to capture 10 total but none are near this nice.
Great job!

Nice shots Craig, the Milky way is just beautiful. These were my first attempts at it in a light pollution area.

Gorgeous shots Craig. Love the detail! I couldn't help but laugh when you mentioned how the Perseids were "popping off all around the framing." I experienced the same phenomena. I got a few good ones but it sure seemed that where ever I pointed the camera, the Perseids decided to show up elsewhere. I saw some amazing displays but of course...off camera.
