I agree, since I have never seen a juvie green heron there is no way to judge. Some of the bird books are very misleading.
Nice capture. Your bird is definitely not a Great Blue. You are probably correct about the juvenile Greenback Heron.

The perspective makes it hard to tell exactly how long the neck is, but yours looks like it has a much shorter neck. Also, the "knees" are much closer to the body than a GBH.
It is a green heron. They look blue.
