I've mowed my lawn only once this summer. We've had so much rain every day that the grass is always wet. Because we've had so much rain, it's growing fast. Aside from the wet grass plugging up the mower, the ground is so soft, the mower would sink in. Actually, I guess all the rain is a good thing because I've mowed my lawn only once this summer. We've had almost 8" of rain so far this month.
This weather is rough on my dog, though. We have thunder and lightning every night, and he doesn't like either. I as hoping he'd get used to it, but it doesn't look that way.

Jerry, my son used some kind of “Thunder Shirt” they put on their dog during storms. Worked really well.

We have to mow WEEKLY here in Florida from around June to October (which of course, is the hottest part of the year), and I have over 3/4 acre in grass. Wife and I decided to make it an exercise routine and we use two walk behinds...works pretty well. Thunder shirts for the dog, as we have daily rain and some whopper thunderstorms, 1" to 3" happens often, sometimes more (which is tough on those with poor drainage)....and a slow moving tropical storm can put some neighborhoods in the lake (so to speak)!! We do drop to once or twice a month during winter.....
We have had well over 8 inches this month, Jerry. I've only mown my yard once, too. For the same reasons. Can't bush-hog my pastures, either. I bought a brand new cutter and haven't even hooked it to my tractor yet. My property will soon look like a Kelp forest.

I've seen them. The next time it thunders, I'll dry wrapping him in something.
Jerry, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Rain? What the hell is that?
A grassed yard was a plot by the English years ago to keep us all busy while they tried to sneak back into the country.
It's a scam!
Of course Yankee ingenuity just made an entire industry out of it.
I have had to mow at least once every week here in Indiana--lots of rain but enough dry to mow. I do about five acres total with a 60" zero turn. Keeps me busy.

'Way back, when I mowed my lawn, I used to mow it four times a year, whether it needed it or not.
Now I just pay the lawn man to do it.

Jerry, move to Texas. Here we can have a heavy thunderstorm rain overnight & into the morning, and the grass is dry by mid-afternoon...all ready to mow!
I just mowed my lawn Tuesday, it was the 27th time I mowed this year, My grass seems to grow so fast, it's hard to keep up.

I was driving behind a car from CA yesterday, and I thought he must be confused seeing all the water falling from the sky.
What is this “rain” of which you speak ? Certainly not something we see in western Colorado anymore.

It's something for people in the eastern US to complain about when we have too much.
