I want to import a bunch of pictures that I have downloaded from Pixabay that have a large number of Keywords that don't fit my Keywording system. Is there any way to strip off the Keywords while import them? Windows 10 and LR Classic 12.01

The keywords are like the camera EXIF, LR wants that data into the catalog. Probably, your only option is to strip prior to import. EXIFTOOL will do this. It looks like the command is just something like: exiftool -keywords= *.jpg
where *.jpg is a wildcard for a folder of JPEGs, update as needed.
Thank you I'll give that a try.
Why? You will need them for searches. If you choose to follow link below. Cheers.

Is the issue, LR does not put the old keywords into proper LR field or is just that the format is different? If the second why wouldn't a LR search find them? It's only a character search unless they are load with ";" which LR uses as delimiter.

Keep life simple, just lump all of those keywords in a keyword folder called Pixaby and you may find them useful at some point. Easier to accommodate than eliminate.
I just delete them when I come across them. They offend my sense of neatness for some reason
