Return from a long hiatus.
Hello All!
It has been quite a while since I visited here but now, I am back. I love the format of this site and look forward to much good interaction. I recently sold off all of my APS-C gear and within the next month am looking to purchase my dream camera - Nikon D850 and the two classic lenses 70-200 f2.8 and the 24-70 f2.8 - used of course, MPB is my go-to resource for kit gear. I already have a 'nifty fifty' f1.8 and an AF-S 105mm f/2.8D macro lens so I am well on the journey to full frame. I haven't settled on a particular genre because I like all aspects of photography. I really don't think there are any hard and fast rules about what to shoot. I love gorgeous landscapes and the expansive views they have, but I also love the macro world of making tiny things look big. Thoughts?
Thanks much,

Thanks Mike!
All of you seasoned vets here - I hope I can learn some tips and have some critiques to help me better undersand composition and lighting and such.

Hello and welcome back!
Dodie
Welcome to the Forum, Mike, enjoy.
Welcome back. You'll love your D850. Don't let anyone try to dissuade you and talk you into mirrorless if the D850 is what you truly want. I love mine.
Thanks KP,
Yep, I've been an amateur photog for 40+ years and have done a lot of research into this. Sure mirrorless cameras are great and all, but battery life is sub par due to having to reproduce the viewing field electronically vs. a standard pentaprism system and i am still a fan of an actual view of what I am framing. Yes, the D850 is my dream camera and that is what I will get. :)
