We spent the last week camping and fishing at Holter Reservoir in Wolf Creek MT. I played around with night photography using a flashlight to help light up the foreground, never tried this before so comments and critique welcome.

Nikon D500, Sigma 18-50 lens, used the timer on the camera with a 30 second delay

Beautiful! I particularly like #5. It makes me think of the landing strip for aliens in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

For me, the people on the dock, and their surroundings, are a little too brightly lit, detracting from nature's beauty. However, I do very much like the idea of someone sitting on the dock in contemplation of the awesome scene around them.

Googling "night sky with people lit" shows quite a few in silhouette, and several where the humans and lighted areas are smaller in the frame - just as food for thought next time out

I'm peeking at these on my phone since I'm away from my computer but I like what I see. It's nice to see something different here.

#5 does remind me of that landing strip! And the person on the dock is me. I only had a single flashlight and couldn't figure out how to defuse the light with anything on hand in the camper. But I sure had some beautiful sky's to play with each night.

Thanks and it was a different kind of experiment for me, never tried anything with lighting like that but I know I don't have the right kind of lights. Might just have to go shopping!!
