Well put. I use a D7000 and occasionally will charge for shoots. I even use it in my studio with incredible results.

I was going to buy the D600 as soon as it came out, but I have decided to put my money into good FX glass now. I bought the D90 as soon as it was discontinued, and I plan on doing the same with the D600. Besides, after the buying furor is over, Nikon may introduce an even better FX camera for less money!

I had a D90 for about two years. I used DX lenses with it. Then I realized I would never be satisfied with those lenses compared to FX lenses (mostly 2.8). I sold all of my DX lenses and slowly started collecting the FX trio (16-35, 24-70, 70-200, all 2.8) Regardless of the fact that I still had a DX camera, it is the lens that makes the biggest difference. Now I have a full frame camera and the best in lenses. The only way to do it.IMO

I advised someone to do that today, or more precisely, to buy FX coverage lenses whether he decides to go DX or FX in a camera body. I suggested a different trio, (the F1.8 prime trio ... 28, 50, 85) as he is mostly into portraiture and landscapes. He has been going back and forth between the D600 and D7000.

I just bought the D600 last week. Quite a step up from the D3100. I had been patiently waiting for the release of the D7100, but my patience ran out when I saw of the release of the D600 on Nikon's site. I got the OK from the wife and "away we go!"

I love this camera. It is quite a bit bigger and heavier than my D3100. There "IS" no comparison otherwise! Besides of course that they are both Nikons.

I must say this though, "The D3100 was a great entry level camera that helped me develop my photography skills(and I have a lot to learn,...Still!) But it'll be fun to go foward with an FX camera.

That and my 24-PCE are my favourite lenses. They spend more time on the camera than anything else.

Good equipment does not a great artist make, though it sure allows a wider range of possibilities to be realised. Cartier-Bresson springs to mind, and even he used a Leica.

"Constant new discoveries in chemistry and optics are widening considerably our field of action. It is up to us to apply them to our technique, to improve ourselves, but there is a whole group of fetishes which have developed on the subject of technique. Technique is important only insofar as you must master it in order to communicate what you see... The camera for us is a tool, not a pretty mechanical toy. In the precise functioning of the mechanical object perhaps there is an unconscious compensation for the anxieties and uncertainties of daily endeavor. In any case, people think far too much about techniques and not enough about seeing."
