I rejected the fairly tale after my Confirmation by the Bishop @St. John Bosco, in the 8th grade... some of you will take that as a sign that I hedged my bets for acceptance into Heaven... lol. I saw it as a sign that I had finally come of age to stand up for my own ideas instead of being another sheep in the herd.
I'm sure my dad's input, was the most influential. He was a non-believer too. I suspect I was made to walk 1/2 mile to church for Saturday catechism and Sunday mass because mom was loud during sex, my guess, and they wanted to increase the size of our family. I am first born. Weekends were the only time they had together. They had to get me out of hearing range, I suspect.

God works in mysterious ways.
Most folks believe in 3 Gods: God of MONEY, God of POWER and God of GREED!!

For someone who claims he does not believe in God, you sure talk about him a lot. Do you have a habit of talking about what you call “fairytales” ?
Unfortunately I've got to agree with dadaist. Far too many people have left religion behind in their quest for all three. Our church has had six ministers in the last 20 or so years and each change has brought a decrease in attendance, from 700-800 on a Sunday to around 80. The old are dying off and there are no new young people coming in. I pray for our world.

It won't help. What will be will be.

Rac,
Yes, I'm a big fan of Fantasy/Sci-Fi literature, which I often compare to the Bible stories. I don't care about any god or if anybody else loves their explanation of the god created Cosmos. To each their own. Some people here believe in fantasies too. lol

Maybe atheism is a fantasy as well.

I could care less. You do you, I'll do the same.

OK, then why keep bringing up the subject of God? You do you and I’ll do the same. Stop being such a hypocrite.
No they don't - I look back at my history lessons and see early people worshiping all kinds of gods before someone came up with this "GOD" and then his supposed son Jessus. They then traveled the new world trying to convince everyone they met that this new God is the only one. I personally can't understand how anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence can "Blindly Believe" those righting's of Moses as the church says one must do.
Oh- I kind of have a little knowledge on their missionary stuff - my wife of 66 yrs grand parents on her mothers side were methodist missionaries in China from 1878 to 1928.
