SanDisk card. Can I trust it now.
I bought a new 8 g SanDisk card this weekend. I formatted it in camera before using it. I shot a bunch of shots downloaded them with no problem from the camera. I took it out and reinserted it and got a this card is corrupted message. I took it out. slid the lock slider a few times put it back in and it worked. Can I trust this card now or should I send it back to them?

Sounds more like corroded/dirty contacts in the camera.

I wouldn't trust losing 8GB of pics to a possibly defective card. Ship it back.

I agree, I know your cameras and this is the likely problem if you bought that card from a reputable source.

I bought it at a local drugstore.
How do I clean contacts. The camera is almost four years old and the counter has turned over at least once.

Remove and reinsert the card several times.
What camera do you have that the counter has "turned over" like an O-L-D car odometer?

Agreed on this. Your photos are priceless and with looming doubt, is that the way you want to feel. Ship it back.

LOL Nikon D3000 I have it set up to number my photos and it has started over once at least.
If she sends it back, then it will most likely show up as a "refurbished' card for sale on the SanDisk site.

Thank you. That is what I did and it appears to be working fine. I will use it around here for awhile and see how it does before trusting it with Grandchildren pictures. :-D That's how I ended up with an 8g to start with. I prefer 4g. Forgot to take extra cards, dumb I know, for the birth of grandchild number 5.
I have a d3000 and that has happened to me a few times, I just take the card out with the camera on and then it works fine, good luck.

Yes, that is not at all unusual. A re-seat fixed many a problem during the 45 years I was in the IT business. (hardware).
I only use Sandisk. When I started in digital, the first cards I bought were Sandisk.
At that time Nikon would only recommend Lexar and Sandisk. I never had a problem with Sandisk.
After download to computer and a backup, format the card in camera.
Thank you. jstoogy, kschwegl and floridamet. That makes me feel better.

I had this happen once in the past, when SD cards were more expensive. I was at Disney World with family. Of course, at first I freaked out, but all I could do at the moment was remove and re-insert it. It worked fine thank goodness and never had another problem with it. I was later told that I had probably not inserted it exactly flush with the contacts.
I think you will be ok...I am not sure you could return it if it is working ok at the moment.
