Give us a clue. What do you plan to shoot? In what conditions? What is your level of experience? Budget? What, if anything, do you already have.
Is the Canon you have in the title the Canon Power Shot SX50 HS?
The more info you can give us, the better the advice you will receive.

Another question is how high a priority is photography on your trip? And do any companions you are with agree with the priority level? :-)
I think he meant Power Shot not Photo Shot :)

I do, too. That is why I asked him for clarification in my response.
I have a Nikon D3000 and a Canon Power Shot SU 170
What lenses do you have for the Nikon d3100?
We will be in Budapest for one night and then a a riverboat cruise on the Danube. I should ask the cruise ship if they accept American plugs. Perhaps I should just take both.

I'm a Nikon fan, but the D3000 is pretty long in the tooth and the Canon has it beat for versatility. It is also lighter, especially since you would need to lug a couple of lenses to cover the zoom range of the SU170. It's also a lot cheaper to lose, if something happens.
The only downside to the Canon is the smaller sensor and the lack of a viewfinder. For me, the lack of a viewfinder would be a problem and the small sensor would restrict enlargements to 11x14 or so even with Perfect Resize.
Now if your D3000 were a D3300, it would be different.

Daniel - if I go "steamboatin'" on the Mississippi and ask "do you accept UK plugs ?" what do you think they'll say ?
