Port St. Joe, FL
Here are some pics I took while at Port St. Joe over the weekend. No processing other than the automatic processing done in DxO Optics. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated as I am still very new at this, but am really enjoying it. All pictures taken with Nikon D7100 with 70-300.
Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the Ugly Hedge Hog. Very nice set. My only advice is to straighten your horizons.
Thanks for the advice and thank you for looking.

Very very nice broberts, well done
Thanks gregoryd45, I am glad you liked them. I know that I still have a long ways to go, especially in Post Processing, but figured the best way was to post and get some feedback as there seems to be a lot of experienced folks on here. The PP aspect really seems like it will be daunting, but so was the camera when I first picked it up.
Welcome, broberts. A free but very powerful processing program is Picasa. Very easy to use. I use it most of the time to crop and enhance. You have a few nice shots that would really pop with a little PP. Happy shootin'. ;-)
Thanks for the tip Photog8. I will have to check Picasa out. Free sounds great. I have Lightroom (free with a printer that I bought my son for Christmas) and DxO Pro Elite (trial). I think the hardest part for me will be to develop an eye for what needs to be done to the photographs to make them pop.
Thanks again.
Nice set broberts. Love that place, the wife and I used to go fishing there all the time. As for advice, straighten the horizons and put more space in the direction the birds are looking instead of in the center.
LOVE Port St.Joe. Any picture of PSJ is good, no matter what, crooked, upside down, doesn't matter.
Port St. Joe is a beautiful place. We love the fact that it is so laid back and relaxing. Only made it for 2 nights this time. We usually go in July as well for scalloping. I ordered a teleconverter, so I am hoping that will give me better reach with the 70-300, but I really want the 150-600 or 300 f/4. I have not decided yet which one I will get. It is hard to get the shots I am trying to get with the 70-300.
Thanks for the tips and advice. Hopefully I will have time to work on some of the pics tonight. My son's baseball keeps me pretty busy during the week.
One morning there were THREE water spouts in St.Joe Bay. I ran down to the camper to get the camera, got back on the dune, no go. Can't take a camera out of an air conditioned motor home, and expect it to work immediately, in the Florida humidity. Then, they were gone.
