pg 26. I do like your square crop Agnes....maybe it could be even a little tighter......but there is always factoring in losing resolution too. Maybe try it....I'd concentrate on the photographer as my subject.....just a thought. :D

Thank you Irene. I redid it today with will go on free sunday to see what you think.

I totally agree, Agnes. I admired your original, but I truly love the squared format. It found its essence! Especially in color.

All of my photographs are from my archives, since I can no longer cope with handling cameras, lenses, and the rest of photo gear. So I apologize for boring you if you've seen these images before. I show them only because I think they might illustrate whatever the theme is.

Because I worked so much with my Rolleiflex, those negatives are all square. But sometimes I used other formats. Irene mentioned cropping from oblong to square. The firsherman shot, made with an old folding bellows camera in 1946, was a vertical with distracting shoreline across the top and too much foreground. When cropped square, I had my usual Rollei image! I think that Rollei haunts me! Checking the image against Irene's elements, I guess it contains all of them, more or less. Please let me know if I'm mistaken. The other two images are full square negs, no crop.

I love your fisherman shot!
There is nothing boring about your photos. My dad was in the Army Air Corp in World War II. I like to think that these are some things that maybe he saw.
I especially love the one you took of your buddy standing on the wing of the plane in the sunset. Please keep them coming.
