Lightroom won't read my fuji RAF files. Is there any good software that will read it out of the box besides Fuji's own. Or do I have to download the dng converter

What version of Lightroom are you using? I have an X-T1 and use the PS Creative Cloud and I'm able to read the RAF files.

Lightroom is up to version 6. You need to buy the newest version or the subscription to the cloud with Lightroom or photoshop. I'm hoping around black Friday the price of Lightroom will go on sale.

I just checked and this link says the X-T1 update was LR v5.4.

The I'd of the picture revels the shutter count until it reaches 9999 then it starts over. For instance 2354.jpeg, 0r raf indicates the shutter has been activated 2354 times.

Lightroom 4.4 came out before the X-E2 and way before the X-T1. The updated version of Lightroom 5 works fine with my X-T1. I'm not a creative cloud member. You might try the DNG converter to see if it will work with 4 if you don't want to upgrade.
