My vote is for Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D7200.

It includes one of my photos.....the Pileated Woodpecker

They (Pilated ) are most-excellent creatures. Have observed (and captured images) Peckers destroying tree-debris. No share.

When I acquired a Nikon Coolpix 900, I found that this camera does not have the usual number of User Manuals by some of the well known manual producers. Perhaps, they are still in development.

Thanks. The manual I was really looking for was the one on the Nikon Coolpix 900 by David Busch.

What I apparently didn't communicate well is that I was hoping to hear from 7200 owners that have also used a third party manual. I can find all kinds of info about books, especially on the web, but it's not the same as hearing an opinion from a person that has a manual which they have found helpful. I'm sorry that I wasn't more clear in my original request.
Having said that, I still appreciate all the kind help from everyone that replied, especially those that told me which manual worked for them. It's nice to know that we belong to such a friendly and helpful on line community, and I appreciate that community.
Thank you all.
Dan

U were clear. I have a 7200 in addition to the 900. Sorry to interrupt your thread.

For an extended manual, Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D7200 would be the best thing for you. It's not a book on how to take pictures, but goes more in depth on each function of the camera than the manual does. I have the book on the D800, and the section on focusing, for instance, is 26 pages.

I also have this book & can't recommend it too highly.

Hello All,

Just got a Nikon 7200 to replace my D200 and wonder if the 7200 users can point me in the right direction to a good after market manual for the 7200. I looked at one that was 80% how to take pic, rather than the ins and outs of the 7200, and how to get the best of the 7200. Thumbed through a book on a Canon from the same publisher and for the most part, it was the same "how to take pic" that was in the 7200 manual. I'm interested in how to best use the 7200, not how to take better pic.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dan

I have found the most helpful to be the Mastering the Nikon DXXX manuals by Darrell Young. I've had them for several Nikons now. Not only does he cover everything in the official manuals but his explanations and suggested starting points for the menus make a much better camera.
