I will be traveling to Italy, Slovenia, croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria for 8 weeks. I would like to do hiking and my nature photography. While i love European cities, I'd like to experience the other side of Europe. We plan on starting in Naples and moving our way north. We will bypass rome, go to the cinque terre, across to Venice and cinque torri in the dolomites. Then will cross over to Slovenia around triglav national park and south to Ljubljana towards split, croatia->Belgrade and toward Sofia Bulgaria. Do you have any experience and therefore recommendations for some awesome hiking and nature photography?

If you have not been here before, there is Independance Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Constitution Center. The are located in the Olde City area, which is not far from Penn's Landing, another tourist type of area. It's very nice though.

I did find a link for fall colors:

Up along the Delaware river is also quite picturesque. You have Washington Crossing and the Previously mentioned New Hope, great areas for taking scenis landscape shots.

I'm also including the website for the New Hope and Ivyland railroad. It's fun taking pictures there too.

Hope this helps.

Color right now is just starting to change. It has been a little dry here this summer so the colors may be a little on the dull side. As others have stated, Valley Forge will be nice, loads of deer there too to photograph. New Hope in Bucks county, they also have a tourist railroad, the New Hoep and Ivyland railroad. That's a fun outing. Longwood gardens is another option. Much depends on what part of Philly you'll be visiting. Boat house row and the Art museum, which was metioned is another good choice.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks Tim. I think I will be staying in NE Philly. I will be there for a month so I will have some time to explore. Are there any unique philadelphia experiences I should partake in that you can think of? Finally, is there a link that you are aware of that follows the fall colors? Thanks. Greg

In about a week, I will be in Philadelphia for a month. Are there any UHH recommendations for places to see for fall foliage? How are the colors currently? Any other photography sites I should see? Would anyone care to show me around? I can reciprocate if and when anyone comes out to Oregon to visit (in December). Thanks.

[quote=minniev]The trace is the best we have to offer for nature photographers. Pay special attention to the Cypress Swamp and the Pearl River Bend, just north of Jackson. You can go all the way to Natchez or Nashville or just putter around. The Ross Barnett reservoir has nice sunsets and water lilies, plus a bunch of alligators and water birds. The fishermen make good subjects too.{/quote]

Thanks for the suggestions. Is there a particular place called the Pearl River Bend? I see that the river has quite a few bends in it. Does the Cypress Swamp afford the opportunity to see alligators and other wildlife like turtles? Thanks.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15 15.6-Inch Touchscreen Laptop

I mainly use my laptop for Photoshop and lightroom editing. There are some plug-ins such as Photomatix, that I occasionally use as well.
The specs are as follows for the techies:
1920x1080 resolution
8gb ram (expandable to 16)
275gb hdd with 8gb ssd
ips screen
2 GB discrete graphics card
1 3.0usb

I think this is the one for me but I wanted other's opinions on this. I am very mobile and am currently on the road.

Thanks.

In a couple of months I will have to drive from Bend, Oregon to NE NJ. I am going to turn this into a photographic opportunity. Here are the locations that I would like to visit. Any details about each location would be appreciated. I have about 2 weeks to get to the east coast so even though I will be visiting some NP, I would appreciate details like specific roads and hikes, etc. that aren't too far off the main roads that would afford me a good chance at some beautiful photography. Thanks!
Bend--> Wallowa Mountains--> Palouse, WA--> Glacier NP--> Yellowstone (Grand Prismatic Spring)-->Devils Tower--> Badlands NP--> up and around the great lakes (any suggestions for these areas?) and then to muggy NJ.

Also, this will be in early to mid August so I would like to catch the Perseids somewhere along the way..thanks again.

I just did Arches, Canyonlands and MV. Given your time constraints, I think these three are the best choice(s)distance wise. They are close by and so amazing. If you want, you might consider adding Antelope Canyon near Page, AZ. It's about 40 minutes from The View at MV. You have to make reservations for a guide though. I am about to embark on a road trip of a lifetime again in a few months. Post your pics!!

Are you going I-5 to LA & then east or going through central NV via Las Vegas? I assume you're driving, although I would prefer a Cessna. LOL!

Eastern OR--> Boise, Twin Falls--> SLC-->Moab-->Cortez, CO--> Santa Fe..my return route is not necessarily the same..

What are your settings (ISO, f stop and shutter speed)? Try f8, ISO 300, and shutter of 200. Keep exploring how to use your dials and buttons and eventually it all falls into place. Also, you will have to manually focus your lens. After you make the changes, post some pics to see how you've improved! Cheers!
