Darn! And I tried so hard to sneak one of my collection without anyone noticing. Don't tell Admin or they will yank this one, too. lol

Perfectly beautiful Jim! The foreground grasses anchor the reflection. Just lovely! Sandy

I like the shot but it is not a true reflection without seeing the full image which includes the full image. As it is, it is an artistic even an impressionistic image. The composition is well done, nice foreground element, good tonal range and framing. I would have preferred to have the full image in the reflection.

Point taken but I couldn't figure out how to do that - even though I stooped over it just displayed a little more of the reflection and no first person tree. Thanks for you comments. Much appreciated.

Jim I had to look at this image a couple different times. I was trying to decide if I liked it or not. I do but wth a little more of the actual
tree. But thatis not a deal breaker. I even liked it when I turned it upside down.

That's an excellent idea, Mr Frank. I just did the same and I also thought it was pretty cool thata way.

Thanks for your comments - I do so appreciate them.

A reflection in InfraRed! Because I love the surreal, magical feeling of IR images, it seems perfect that only the reflection is apparent, not the whole tree. Adds to the fantasy of a dream where nothing is as it seems, yet makes perfect sense.. I agree that the foreground grass gives a sense of reality before you step off into the "rabbit hole".

Thanks, Carla, You remarks are well taken. You certainly have a way with words

As I mentioned earlier, the grass is important. I love your the reference to the rabbit hole. Those are the words I was searching for but couldn't come up with in my description.

IMO this is the top-of-he-heap of your IR images! Imaginative and creative to the max...uses the unique features of IR in combination with the reflective illusory phenomena really well...it demands thoughtful analysis!

Your mention of names inscribed reminded me of my first visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. I had joined the Navy near the end of the war, but while the draft was still in effect. I knew many, many people who served in Viet Nam (even my stepfather).

My visit to the memorial about 10 years after war ended was profoundly moving.

I know what you mean. I often have to pat moist eyes every time I visit this memorial. I understand the need for defense but aggression is beyond my comprehension. I suppose it will always be with us.

Thank you for your service, Linda.

Stunning, emotional shot Mr. Hill.

Thanks, Frank. It's an emotional place. The names of some of my friends are inscribed thereon. The names are what most of the kids are reading.

An unreal surreal event visited by kids whom we hope never have to face the reality of blood and horror. A vain hope?

Interesting perspective, having more of the tree in the reflection than in the upper part of the image. It works for me, but it is hard to explain why (that happens to me sometimes with your images). Somewhat disorienting in ways. The reflection also seems somewhat like the root system.

Part of me wants to see the whole tree and the reflection, but you have actually shown us that, just not in the expected manner.

Thanks, as always, for sharing your unique art with us.

I appreciate your take on this one, Min. I guess the root system idea isn't to far out as the roots are responsible for the fullness of the branches. In my world of convolutions it makes perfect sense. Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts.

Fascinating shot, Jim. I'm feeling a trick of the eye when gazing at the tree trunk - as if the thickest, darkest part is out of the water and not a reflection. Very cool!

I do wonder how the image would feel without the foreground grasses. Can you speak to the decision to include them in the frame?

Sure! Thanks for the comments.

The foreground grasses were a touch of reality in an otherwise "dreamscape" type image. I looked at it without but liked it better with. There is no foundational reason. I could have cropped some of it but decided against doing so.

It's an image I forgot about and came across while searching my files for lost Dumpster-Dive photographs. Thought was just to share it with y'all.
