I wouldn't give up on LR's sharpening before I was sure I was using all the discrete sliders, and understood the impact / enhancement of each.

In my opinion, presets are far to time consuming versus using basic sliders. Plus the more presets you have installed, slows tge process down even further. That said, there are already plenty of built-in presets in LRC and the purchasing or downloading of more is simply a waste of time and money in the long run.
You may find ss you learn how each basic slider affects your image in distinct ways you will gain post processing knowledge that will far outway trying to shotcut the process with a bunch of presets. Not to mention you will develop your own style with much more confidence and then learn to create your own presets based on your personal style.

Seeking an opinion.
Which body would give superior results if you are considering ONLY landscape photography and portrait photography: The Nikon d850 or the Nikon z9?
Thanks for your thoughts.

I could care less about everyone's speculations, theories, abd predictions.
I have been letting Lightroom copy my original RAW file to backup and copying then converting to DNG to my main photo drive for over 10 years. I love the fact tgat the sidecar file necessitated by ither RAW formats is not necessary with a DNG. I never need to be concerned about software versions beung compatible with the latest manufacturer's RAW format. Many other benefits with DNG vs camera RAW.
Occasionally, I do comparison test to play with new features of the original RAW. I have yet to realize any critical benefit with the original RAW.
DNG has served me well and I hooe it will comtinue to do so till the day I die

I was having an issue with my Lightroom Classic 11.4 - after it was updated...

I will have to say the tech support Adobe offered was excellent.

I've had the EOS-R w/24-105 f/4 since it first came out. I still love it!!!
The EOS-R is the best camera I've ever owned.
Line up of prior digital cameras, I still own; EOS-7D, EOS-6D, Sony 7R-mk2.
The only disappointment with any of the bodies, is the Sony.
The R w/24-105 f/4 will not save much weight over equivalent digital cameras. A few ounces at best. But it is a dream to use. Even for this old guy. Only 69 years young

Thanks for all the input. I just subscribed to Lightroom at $9.99 per month. The edit panel is bare-bones, unlike the former one that had a histogram and tone curve. Is there a way to make those show?

You beed to open the Creative Cloud and sign in to your account. Then download and install Lightroom Classic (LRC). Not just Lightroom, that is the mobile cloud version

LRC and PS are all I have ever needed that past 15 plus years. Even though LRC used to be Lightroom. All the more power to people pushing presets to make money and third party plug-ins. I personally have no use for other peoples presets or third party plug-ins.
Others have different opinions.
Each to their own beyond LRC and PS.

Robertneger just posted a question about using VR for landscape photography and several respondents said they leave their VR on, all the time.

I used to leave mine on but it seemed like the battery would drain faster when I did that and it would even drain the battery over (a long) time with the VR left on and the camera turned off, just sitting in my camera bag. Does anyone know if the electrons are still flowing with VR turned on and the camera turned off? Or does shutting off the camera also shut down the VR?
Robertneger just posted a question about using VR ... (show quote)

First time I ever heard that false rumor!
GPS, on the other hand will drain the battery on some models such as my 6D, if left enabled with camera power switch off
