I generally have been applying the adjustments I use in the order presented in the menu, so Sharpening has not been the last thing. For instance, I will use Dehaze last and then sometimes increase exposure if I feel it unduly darkens the image. I do not mean to hijack your thread. It comes up in relation to order of adjustments.

I sharpen as a final step using PS. One method I have found helpful is to make the background layer a "smart object" and then create a duplicate layer of the background. I use a hi-pass filter on linear light blend mode on that duplicate layer. I then add a layer mask, invert to black, and paint white over the areas to be sharpened. You can add as much or as little sharpening as you'd like by adjusting the opacity on the duplicate layer. Also, you can sharpen specific areas of the image and not necessarily the whole thing. Play around with it and you might find it adds depth and dimension without sharpening areas better left alone!

Just started using Lightroom and PS. I previously used Picasa.

I have a lot to learn :-)

When purchasing from Adorama or B&H, etc., Is there any reason to choose the Lens alone over the Lens sold with a "Free Accessory Bundle"?

If someone gave me a Seagate, I wouldn't use it. Yes, I know many people have them and love them, but they have a reputation for a high failure rate. There is a class action suit against them for just that reason.

I now buy the HGST Ultrastar drive, 3 or 4TB, which is an enterprise drive, designed for 24/7 use. It has a 5-year warranty. Buy the drive and then buy an enclosure for it.

I use SyncBack SE for backing up.

Like some or perhaps many, I am a little intimidated about assembling a back up or storage drive. Is really just a matter of buying the drive, inserting in an enclosure and pluging in a USB cable?

Thanks

Thank you for posting. I am new to digital post processing and macro photography and increasing depth of focus to include all the subject is one of my goals. Focus Stacking looks like one way to do it that can result in spectacular images.

From your picture, the bird looks more like a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, that a warbler. They can be easily confused as the kinglet feeds on insects with flocks of warblers. Either way, this is a very nice photo of a fast moving little bird.

I'm with you. Ruby-crowned Kinglet-female

I just returned from Sedona. It was spectacular and I will look forward to visiting again.

If you are looking for a place to stay, I recommend Sky Ranch Lodge. It was recommended to me by a couple that visit often and I am glad I took their recommendation. It is up next to the airport on a Mesa and has terrific views of the area. The grounds are beautifully maintained and, for me, brought a variety of birds into view.

Yes I'll need at least a week or more next time.......
