Architect1776- thank you. I'm headed to the Grand Canyon and then Sedona for 2 nights in March. I can see I do not have enough time to really see Sedona but I will try to use your list to plan a couple days.

I like the photos. Just asking, is there any waymtomget more feather detail in the black of its back and wings in photo 2? Perhaps if slightly overexposed when taking the picture or use of corrective tools? I'm new to digital photo processing.

Any number of posts have touted the value of a 50 mm prime lens for general photography and portraits as a good lens and useful focal length. I have a D7100 but am considering adding a full frame body at some point so have purchased FX lenses. If I were to purchase the FX lens would the 35 mm be a better choice with the crop body in order to provide a more friendly or useful effective field of view?

I'm glad you were not trying to get them annoyed or angry.

I understand how people are so interesting to photograph, both candids, when unaware of the camera, and when reacting to the presence of the camera.

Good to hear how your process has changed.

I'm missing what kind of trip this is. Where are you headed and what are you shooting?

It is good advice to compare in an Optics store. Here on LA: Optics4Birding, in Irvine. In Middleton Wisconsin: Eagle Optics; in Cape May NJ: the Cape May Bird Observatory. Find a specialized birding optics store in your area.

Not just for size and weight, and field of view, but also the brightness.

Also contact your local AUDUBON chapter and go on a Bird Walk or Field trip and talk to the experienced birders.

The National AUDUBON site and the Cornell Ornithological Lab have alot of info on binoculars too.

If you become a birder you will appreciate quality optics.

I have Swarovski but they are very expensive. So I recommend the Zeiss as a lower cost, although still expensive, pair. With binoculars the more expensive ones make a dramatic difference in the brightness of the view.

Thank you. I have been thinking a monopod would help with sharpness

Great. Were they from a tripod or handheld? Did you use manual settings or....?
