I had the same problems with zooming via the mouse wheel when updated.

I went into preferences under edit and then to tools. The right side listing of zoom options were all turned on except animated zoom. That worked for me, but I seem to remember some said that it didn't for them in another thread.

I do not want to seem reactionary as to automation in flash synchronization and exposure BUT, right here on this forum I constantly read about folks having issues with some of these more complex control and command systems. There seems to be some much messing around with that hardware to get it to work properly that it seems to me it would disrupt the smooth flow of shooting of various kinds of sessions or assignments where reliable operation of multiple flash systems or setups is required, especially when working is restrictive time frames.

I have been using multiple flashes for many decades, in the studio, in various locations, and at both slow and fast paces events- portray sessions, sports events, weddings, industrial sites, etc. All I ever used was a reliable radio-based slave system- Pocket Wizard, since the 1980s and in manual, auto and TTL settings. Even in manual operation, I have no problems in exposure determinant buy means of meter readings, guide number and certain instinctive, and/or pre-determined settings for known or estimated distances. I can easily set up ratios and a wide variety of lighting scenarios.

Unless I am mistaken, HHS can be accomplished with independent units triggered by radio slaves. If I am wrong, I am sure there are Pocket Wizard units that can accommodate that specific requirement as well as routine operation within the synch range of most digital cameras.

Because of the small size of most of these flash trigger accessories, unfortunately, the control switches are small and comparatively fragile. I keep my Pocket Wizard switches clean and lightly lubricated and have had a reliable performance for years- never blew a switch a rarely missed a shot de to synchronization failure.
I do not want to seem reactionary as to automation... (show quote)

I am not aware of any simple radio slaves that support HHS, unless they are TTL capable already. But, then I am not looking for any substitutions beyond Pocket Wizards. The TT5 PW's will automatically go into HSS mode based on shutter speed when the AC3 group is set to automatic. The flash needs to be in TTL mode (which I leave it in), but the beauty of it is you can switch any of the 3 groups on the AC3 to manual, automatic or off without touching the flash again. AC3 in manual, the flash will respond to the exposure instructions of the PW without having to change the TTL mode on the flash.

If needed for interiors, I may group other manual exposure flashes or monolights with simple PW's or attach an older Pixel transmitter to a PW for a separate group of manual flashes that gives me another 3 group on/off control.

I stopped using Kirkland paper when Ilford stopped being their supplier. I also use Canon, Epson and Red River paper because I can ensure the ICC profiles are correct for these papers with my printers.

If precise color calibration isn't important, and probably not to most, then a consistent quality paper from Costco is definitely a worthwhile alternative.

I also would recommend Pocket Wizards. I shoot Canon, but the TT5 setup with the AC3 controller is a workhorse and seamlessly slips into HSS and out based on your shutter speed. Three groups with off, manual or TTL switching and easy dial exposure in a compact body. You can use a TT1 or another TT5 with the AC3 on your camera. I use some non-TTL PW triggers also and new or old, everything is compatible.

The interesting thing for me being left handed was I always used the mouse with my right hand. Now I use the Wacom Intuos set up for the left hand and when processing, I use the pen left handed on the Wacom, right hand on the mouse (especially to zoom with the wheel) and express keys/dial. I set up the express keys to do the most usual keyboard shortcuts and plug-ins I most use. A sort of hybrid way, but it's pretty fast and accurate for me.

I always assumed that wanting my PC to do multiple tasks while in PSCC is asking for problems. So, when the Topaz Lab software wants to update the program, I decline and either use the current version or shut down PS and then do the update. If I haven't used Topaz for a while, I just open each one and check for updates before I start a project.

With everything going on in this world, it all pales against the loss of loved ones in our lives. My condolences to your wife's passing.

DxO has told me to uninstall my old free version as the new version will not overwrite it, thus it will not install properly into photoshop unless I get rid of the older version. I'm reluctant to do that so I've just decided to stay with the old version and save myself the headache and 99 bucks.

You could save the install for the old NIK free collection, uninstall and try the new trial. Change back if you don't like it.

So I upgraded, but only use ACR and PS, not so much lightroom. I have DXO's Nik collection, Photolab, Viewpoint and Pure Raw... The Topaz Labs various programs and some others. Dropped upgrading On One years ago but still on my old PC. No problems with any upgrades and I've been using it pretty constantly in the past while on some projects.

I am not having any issues either, just looking into the new features now as time permits.

Yes, KEH has backed my purchases also. I bought a 5DII as a FF backup body a few years ago and it came without a focusing screen. I sent it to Canon Prof. Sevices to be cleaned and have a screen put in. CPS told me the main dial was slipping and not engaging 100%, so no further steps were taken. KEH replaced that body with another within a week, which is still a backup body I keep handy.

Congratulations on your upgrade! It only hurts a little while, but the dividend is it will be super fast and save you time in the long run.

We bit the bullet and upgraded my wife's desktop PC earlier this year and the gains in time saved is well worth it. Then I replaced our aging laptop so we could efficiently run Autocad on it in the field with clients and it has already paid for itself. Last week, I ordered a replacement upgrade PC for me as I have a couple of photo jobs that my 9 yr old desktop is having trouble handling without freezing up with the newest PSCC. Luckily, I can use the laptop until it arrives.

I agree with Gene51 that you will probably need more storage space than the 1TB. External and backup drives are easy to assemble and you'll know what the reliability is. Once you set up your new laptop, you'll be glad you made the choice. So much faster editing than what you described.

I supported DXO when Nik was acquired and paid for their upgrade. Mostly because I have been a longtime user of Photolab and Viewpoint, and more recently Pure Raw. The difference between the old pre-Google Nik and the newest iteration is night and day. Of course, that's just an opinion and your needs will differ. Run the trial and see for yourself.

I've also read about the hand shot marking the start and end of a sequence, but never used it myself for bracketing. I do use it sometimes for panos.

I set my camera to shoot from either longest exposure to shortest or vice versa so the grouping is consistent. Handheld with high speed drive.

Where it can get complicated is when I shoot with a TSe lens and I am shifting for photomerging. Depending on the scene, I may set anywhere from 5 to 9 brackets per each shift. With a standard 3 shift, that could be 27 exposures to mask and layer. Although, I don't normally use all the exposures... better to have too many than not enough. If I shift left to right, then top to bottom and then 4 diagonal views, that's a ton of exposures to go through. For these shoots, I use a CamRanger2 to minimize how much I am handling the camera.

Either way, I can discern where the bracket begins and ends by the darkest or lightest exposure and organize my workflow accordingly.

I see reference to you living in San Francisco. And you’re worried about Europe? Murder rate up something like 30% in the US. Property theft not prosecuted in California to any degree.

We saw an in person seminar by Rick Steves who pointed out the absurdity of worrying about foreign travel while ignoring crime at home. People told him to be safe while traveling and his comment was to try to stay safe at home!

Anyhoo. Take your stuff and use it.

I believe that was my reference to where I live, not the OP. But, you are right... property theft in the bay area is out of control.
