Just my 2 cents but I have ruined more battery powered equipment with copper top batteries than any other single brand. I now have quite a collection of expensive flashlights, laser levelers and pointers, motion activated lights, radios, and remote control toys corroded beyond repair. That includes all other brands including the el-cheep-o bargain brands combined. Their guarantee claims to replace damaged equipment but when I applied the sent me a voucher for more of their leaky batteries.

This is what Wikipedia says about them:
The Sphingidae are a family of moths (Lepidoptera), commonly known as hawk moths, sphinx moths, and hornworms; it includes about 1,450 species.[1] It is best represented in the tropics, but species are found in every region.[2] They are moderate to large in size and are distinguished among moths for their rapid, sustained flying ability.[2] Their narrow wings and streamlined abdomens are adaptations for rapid flight. Some hawk moths, such as the hummingbird hawk moth or the white-lined sphinx, hover in midair while they feed on nectar from flowers, so are sometimes mistaken for hummingbirds. This hovering capability has evolved only four times in nectar feeders: in hummingbirds, certain bats, hoverflies, and these sphingids[3] (an example of convergent evolution). Sphingids have been much studied for their flying ability, especially their ability to move rapidly from side to side while hovering, called 'swing-hovering' or 'side-slipping.' This is thought to have evolved to deal with ambush predators that lie in wait in flowers.[3]
Sphingids are some of the faster flying insects; some are capable of flying at over 5.3 m/s (12 miles per hour).[4] They have wingspans from 4 to over 10 cm.

I'm always impressed by the detractors of Fox News. I have a sister who absolutely refuses to watch it because they say things about her favorite politicians that unsets her. She, and people like her prefer to only watch "government approved" news sources, otherwise known as "propaganda".

Probably the most insidious fast one the commies have pulled recently was convincing the obviously gullible public and media to equate the color red with the conservative right. The color red has traditionally been associated with the communist revolution. Red stars for insignias, red flags, etc.

Squirrels aren't the cute little fuzzy animals some think they are. I raised a squirrel years ago after cats raided the nest and it bit every kid in the neighborhood after it matured. I pulled into our driveway one afternoon just in time to see a big grey tree rat dragging off the mother robin it had killed in its nest. We used to have a brood every year until the tree rats discovered them and now just an empty nest. I do agree they are very tasty, however.

I don't know who wrote it but it sure hits the nail on the head. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

And then there's this "Here's the one BO hasn't the balls to ask: Bill O’Reilly should ask the President one simple question during the next interview (fat chance - they are screened)
Ask the President how he obtained a National Security Clearance (Final Top Secret) without an “In Depth” background check?
That would require all National Security agencies to explain their validation processes regarding the entire President’s official government related documentation! (Birth Certificate, SSN, Passport, Selective Service, Foreign Exchange Student status etc., etc., etc."

If you want "excitement" you can grab your 35 mm SLR, don your air force parka and have a crewman hold onto your belt while you hang, from the waste down, out the starboard cockpit window of NC-130A 33133 flying through clouds at altitude. We did this to document for calibration the de-icing circuits necessary for melting ice off an instrument probe sticking out of the fuselage just in front of the propeller. This old bird was used for AFCRL weather modification programs we carried out at L.G. Hanscom Field. The most fasinating four-year assignment during my career by far.

One simply cannot reason with a mentally challenged person. The "so called" liberal mental disorder appears to be the inability to recognize conditions they disagree with cannot be changed by trying them over and over again but expecting a different result each time. They seem incapable of recognizing a blatantly obvious lie so long as it agrees with their politically correct opinion. Someone once described political correctness as a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. Every so often these socially inept cowards attempt to decide what is or is not PC for the rest of us unwashed ignoramuses. Isn’t it past time for the actually intelligent and honest people of the world to stamp out this intellectually dishonest stupidly?

As I understand it the "ozone layer" was discovered at the time during it's seasonal cycle when it was increasing in size. The greenies, who seize upon any excuse to vilify humanity, used it's discovery to blame hydrocarbons for the increase. The resulting hysteria caused politicians to organize the banning of Freon, universally used in refrigerators and freezers around the world. It had to be replaced with an "environmentally safe" chemical that was considerably more expensive. The result was millions of people in third-world countries could no longer afford refrigeration and became sickened by consuming poorly preserved food or actually starved. Much the same as when uninformed zealots caused the banning of the insecticide DDT, which in turn allowed mosquitoes to infect and kill millions with malaria that continues to this day.

I played with something called a triangular box kite back in the 1950's. It had a spruce stick triangular body with wings and the usual parts covered with newspaper. I saw an article in a boy's magazine where the author used a Brownie camera and a second string that pulled a blade. It cut a string holding back a rubber band that tripped the shutter. Mine was only 3 feet across but it had no trouble at all lifting a box camera in only a moderate breeze. In fact, I used a hefty surf rod and reel with braided line and it still pulled like hell. The same inexpensive rig today with a remote release would be simple to do.
