He does look forlorn.
Yeah, wish I could help. Didn't see it today.

Awww, why do they always look grumpy!?!?
Yeah, but I would be too if I were that young and alone! Heck, at my age, I feel the same way sometimes!

I noticed in the last image he has several bees on him by his tail, perhaps he has been stung badly.
Edit: There are also a few in the first image to
I believe they are cicadas, which are badly hounding us. I checked and they don't bite. I erased a few in the image as they were that bad! One landed on me today!

Sorry to see this Barb. Nature is not always nice.

I agree. Such a give and take.

Perhaps an owl attacked it but failed to kill it.
Yup, I know. I haven't seen any owls around here, but I know we have hawks!

I hope he's going to be OK.
Yeah, me too!I think I may have seen him this afternoon as one O was working with was moving, but a few times he seemed like he dragged a bit the hind part.
First, the baby bird, and now, as I entered the front part where my tree hole babies live, I saw what I think may be one of them. Since I was gone for a bit, I don't know if the two of the babes were still hanging together. They have been a bit skittish since leaving the tree, but today, as I approached, the squirrel didn't move, and it was huddled by the tree. I calmly spoke to it and tossed it a peanut. No response. I came closer, careful not to frighten it, and that's when I saw what I thought was dragging its back legs. It's moving, but I'm afraid of what may have happened. Not to frighten or upset it further, I left and went up to the back. When I came back down, I found it was still in the same area. It's moving, but something is wrong. It dragged itself away and tried to watch it as this is a small area, but somehow I lost sight of it. I saw another squirrel on the air conditioning vent, but not sure if it was the same.
I'm almost getting afraid to go back down. First, the squirrel's tail tip, then the baby bird, and this. Well, it is three, so maybe that will be it! I get this is Mother Nature, but sorry, I'd rather not see it. I even checked to see if cicadas can make them sick and it said no. I did hear that too many with dogs can, as their shells are difficult to digest.
Here he is. I can't see the face clearly, so I'm unsure if this is one of the babies.
As I was walking up to the back to work with my squirrels, nearly on the sidewalk I heard the chirping. Sadly still all alone is the baby bird. Just breaking my heart!
Such a little thing!
Mother nature can be cruel.
I'd say enjoy, but

Those are very interesting photos. Believe it or not, I’ve never seen a cicada before.
Lucky you! I saw them the last time, and they were much worse. They're not as bad this time!

Nice shots of the meal before it has been eaten.
Yeah, just want them not to drop on me! They can be dive bombers!
As I was finishing up in the back with my one group of squirrels, as I approached the front, I saw a squirrel munching casually on one of the nuts I had earlier left. Expecting him to scamper off, I guess he was in the mood to mug for the camera, and so he did!
Color on the computer is still driving me nuts, so I apologize for some inconsistency. Still working on it!
For the squirrel lovers, I hope you enjoy his show!
Walking into the park area to work with my guys over the loud-mouthed cicadas, I heard a strange sound. At first, I thought it might be a squirrel, but looking around me, I couldn't see one. I finally looked closer and saw a tiny baby bird. I became concerned as it was chirping now loudly, and as I approached, it did not attempt to fly. So, I just spoke to it for a bit and then decided it was best to leave, hoping the mom would return and not a hawk. Later, when I came back, it was gone. I can only hope for the best.
Cute little thing!
I hope you enjoy my attempt.
