If you look at the blurred portion you will see the same image enlarged!! I don't know why this is done except to fill the horizontal screen around a vertical shot without having a lot of either black or white blank space on the sides

In addition to the excellent comments already given, think about the work in post-processing and try to find a spot where you can get an even background instead of the "3 part" wall that will make it more difficult to edit. Then if using flash make sure to have subjects far enough from the wall to minimize or eliminate shadows.

1/4-20 is the proper thread size for the tripod socket.

The bolt is a common 1/4" USS (coarse thread). The only other commonly found 1/4" thread is SAE (fine thread). I don't have the thread count handy but the difference is immediately obvious. The thread in your camera is 1/4" USS so the proper bolt is a perfect fit. Absolutely no way you can damage it unless you crossthread it and try to force it in. That would require a wrench. As long as you screw it in finger tight until it is snug it is impossible for you to exert enough pull to damage the threads.

For those complaining about lack of hotshoe, just get an external flash with slave capability

Thank you for looking and the comments! I was on my way home and saw a view of that in the rear view mirror and just had to stop and take some shots..... Excellent reason for ALWAYS carrying a camera with me, cuz a phone just can't get proper shots when the subjects are at a distance.

Doc Barry, Did you find a way to create a pdf -......

There are several very good PDF creating programs. I like the FREE version of NITRO PDF that installs a printer driver that creates the PDF file for you. You can add to existing PDF files also if you decide to add more later

"M" is for ME, as in "It's all about ME"

PrintShop and Print Master are 2 programs I used a lot in the past and I believe that PrintMaster is still available and there also was a PrintArtist program that made it all very easy to do.

The most troubling thing I see in so many pictures showing the rails, is that the subject is standing between the rails and that is SO DANGEROUS!!! It seems to be a huge item for graduations and weddings to use the tracks, but PLEASE be sure to only use close shots of rail cars, engines, etc that are CLEARLY IN MUSEUM TYPE SETTINGS and NOT ACTIVE ANYMORE!!!!

I love these self proclaimed experts....

Definition of an "expert", especially the 'self-proclaimed' ones=
"ex = has been"
"spert = drip under pressure"
Therefore an "expert" is a "has-been drip under pressure",

and thank goodness I am not one of those and never have claimed to be!!
