I have never used a Sony mirrorless. From what I have read they are the only ones that can really go head to head with Nikon and Canon DSLRs. Nikon and Canon are making great strides in mirrorless but are playing catchup.

I do own a Nikon Z6 and am using it to get familiar with mirrorless. It doesn't match my D500 or D850.

I am principally a Nikon user and looking forward to trying out the zz series. I also use the4/3 Lumix/Olympus offerings and find them quite good but hate the Sony. Rx100 menu system.

Hi,I'm an occasional user of UHH but do glean useful info from fellow users.I shoot with both Nikon D750,D300s and Lumix GH2&G7. The latter with 40-150mm and 150-300mm lenses, both giving me superlative results.
I shoot one-handed from a scooter as I am paralyzed on my left side, using a bean bag resting on my handlebar as a makeshift tripod. I agree that the lighter weight of the 4/3 system helps manipulating the equipment better.
I suggest when shooting at tele distance that you match your shutter speed to the zoom distance and brace the camera and lens for stability, also using Auto Iso.
Remember to turn the stabilizer off when your camera is rock steady on a tripod, otherwise, a false stability reading may result from the camera or lens.
I like pairing my tele shots with shots from the Olympus 9mm f8 fish eye lens, for great effect and distortion. No focusing or aperture settings are necessary for this lens but you will have to set your camera to shooting w/o lens in the menu.
What I really appreciate about the micro 4/3 is that the lenses are all interchangeable with any other 4/3 brand of camera,i.e. Olympus.
Hope these tips help and looking forward to advice from others.

I am a very happy owner of the D750. It is my favourite Nikon to date-great quick focussing, exceptional low light, good video- truly an all rounder. Dx lenses can be used with vignette.

Although I do not have any Sony cameras and ‘though they sound pretty impressive, it is however a mirrorless type and i find there is as definite lag between shots as experienced by my mirrorless Lumix G7.
I am thrilled by my new Nikon D750 with kit lens Nikkor 24-120mm f4 (now my walk around events lens)that work so well together.
When you talk about low light shooting, the D750 performs remarkably well with its split second focusing in minimal light.
Although you can adjust your ISO setting to whatever you like, the auto ISO starts off at ISO 12800 and this allows for available light shooting sans flash with hardly any perceivable noise.
I think this is a result of the bigger sensor(Sony made) and the new D4 processor. The size and weight is not overly big compared to the massive Nikon D4S which performs better in low light.
The Nikon D750 has been likened to the Nikon D810 without the size and resolution but all its features plus enhanced movie shooting and faster shooting too.

D7100, more modern should be a good choice but you may have to invest in an additional en-el15 battery for it. The movie application and operation is definitely superior to the D90 as well as higher ISO sensitivity with less noise. With lenses, buy the best glass you can afford.Good luck and welcome.

The D7100 is a very good upgrade choice. It is similar sized but the focusing is better but more complex. If you want a deal, also look for the D80's immediate successor, the D90 that is still in Nikon current production line but at a good price.I have shot shows at ISO 3200 with hardly any noticeable noise. Hope this gives you an additional option

Appreciate the knowledge shared re iPhoto and possible solutions to problems.
Saving additional copies of photo files to external Hard Drives is not only good insurance but also very necessary for peace of mind.
However, failing this and your iPhoto library becomes corrupted, here is a possible solution of a iPhoto library re-build by using Fatcatsoftware.com's :'iPhoto Liabrary Manager' now up to version4.01.
This program sure saved my bacon and is a 'no-brainer' to use.

I have many Nikon products and they generally work flawlessly except for one time when the new Nikkor 50-300mm lens malfunctioned whilst still under warranty. After submitting my receipt, etc. to my local Nikon dealer who returned it for me to Nikon.
Nikon replaced my faulty one with a brand new one.
I really cannot complain about the service as I was satisfied.Lemons do occur but hopefully, they are few and far in-between. Hopefully others may find equally satisfactory resolutions.

Congrats on the new baby and the lovely waterfalls. You'll love shooting with it as it is a semi-pro type camera with a useful heft and water moisture and dust seals.

I love hearing from fellow Nikon owners about their experiences.I am lucky to have both the D7000 and D5100 and love each for its individual pluses.
The D7000 has a built in auto focus motor that the D5100 hasn't and this is only a problem when you use a non built-in auto focusing lens. The D7000 has an additional LCD on top of the camera to show your settings quickly rather than from the monitor menu.
Both have the same pixel count of 16.2MP, but the D5100 is smaller and lighter and has a foldout swivel monitor very useful for low and macro shots as well as for movies. The
movie operation has a convinient dedicated mode switch.
Additionally, it has a few interesting special effects features if you prefer to go that route.
If I had to choose but one, I'll go for the D7000 and get the D5100 as a second body. They are both wonderful. Happy hunting and shooting.

I love my big Nikons for serious photography but always carry a small point and shoot for quick candids and street photography. Of course, I do not expect the same exacting results from the smaller camera. Recently, I acquired the Fuji X10 that seems to satisfy my need for the big camera results from a small camera. This new acquisition is also a fully automatic and/or manual camera with extensive controls without the bulk and rewards with superlative images from the special 4x Fujinon lens. As you can tell, I love my cameras and dog too and respect the views of your many contributors.
