My sister and I have a difference of opinion. When we travel I take plenty of pictures while she takes none. Her thoughts are she wants to spend the time enjoying what she sees. I take pictures and then re-live my experiences through the pictures keeping a journal of my travels. Speaking of which I need to post pictures from our last two trips in the last three months. Australia and Morocco.
>>I got a little camera mask for $100.
What is a "camera mask"?
We just started scuba diving this year. I am particularly interested in doing video. I have so far used an Olympus camera which is rated only for 15 ft. Our plan is to remain above 50 ft. Below that the lighting is pretty poor. From what I have so far been told you really have to spend big bucks to have even minimally decent camera equipment. For the amount of diving we will get to do I can't justify spending that kind of money just for photographic equipment I only use under water.
p.s. Unfortunately the file I wanted to upload was too large.
Thank you so much. You have given me a lot great advise to experiment with. With LightRoom I am "just flying by the seat of my pants”. Can you transpose one picture of the ship onto a second picture of say a sea scape? Or do I need Photoshop to do that? I will try some of your suggestions and get back to you.
Good morning,
I will up load more pictures on this once I figure out what I should be doing. I shot in RAW so yes i can produce color. The thing about color is it is so much harder to make a model look like the real thing photographically. My backdrop is a solid black sheet. If I had Photoshop I would try transposing the model on a picture of a sea scape but I am not up to that yet. I still know very little of what I can do with Lightroom. It is a very powerful program.
On another note: Its funny. 72 people looked at my post last night. You are the first person who commented. I guess with a title like “Photographing Models” people were expecting some young thing posing in a provocative position. Btw I visited the actual Cutty Sark two years ago and have plenty of pictures of it.
What is “DOF”?
IS there a B& W section somewhere on this web site?
Good evening,
My first attempt at photographing a model of the Cutty Sark circa 1869 and trying to make it look like an old sepia print.
Would anyone mistake this for the real ship?
Any suggestions on how to improve this? I was thinking about changing the background to a white sheet. Or maybe making it look like it is a bit out of focus.
I just purchased new lighting which I think worked out well. White umbrella with a curly -q bulb 45W mounted on a stand. What bothers me is the ship seems to be lit up in the night. Not very realistic but I haven’t figured out what i should have done? Should the Sepia be browner? I am working Light Room ver 5.
I appreciate the input. I am blind in one eye so I have a tendency to do that. Some else also mentioned the same thing.
King Snake. It really blended in so I almost missed it. I played with Light room to make it stand out more.
That one believe it or not was our back yard. We get four different types of wood peckers visiting our back yard.
My wife knows. Something indigenous to Maryland. I will get back to you on that.
I have done this before months ago but have forgotten. Where do I go on this site to upload pictures?
Unfortunately i could not up load a video demonstrating the effect. That is why I suggested going to my Flicker page to see the video.
