Hmmm. I wonder why my Toshiba Laptop battery lasted 10 years. The computer got funky so I replaced it. The battery still fine. It was plugged in 24/7. Unplugged only when transported on vacations. The computer was on/used 15 hours a day. I guess I'll never know why the battery lasted that long.

I don't charge in camera, I want the camera ready for use so I use external chargers.

14,000 years ago, a mere fraction of an eyeblink in the Earth’s history, from where I live I would have seen the southern edge of a 3000 foot plus sheet of ice that covered half of North America. Sea level was about 400 meters lower then.

Divers have found fire rings of stones in the channel between Catalina Island and The CA mainland. Same for parts of the North Sea/English Channel and the Black Sea. Probably a lot of other places I haven't read about.

Thanks for commenting. Here is a link to the history of the bridge. It was built because the water was too low to ferry people across it.

I love mine, keeping it.
However on the Canon USA store sites in the refurbished section (same warranty as NIB) they have the R7 body for $1119 and body + 18-150 for $1519.

A stone and iron Parker Truss bridge built in 1897. This is in Eastern Iowa.
Comments for improvement are welcome

Probably originally meant for horses or horse and buggy as well as pedestrians. It didn't really need to be wide as one buggy or wagon could wait until the other was across. It was a much smaller population, less traveling, and a slower pace in general.

I would venture that the river is not navigable by steamboats, or by the time it was built the boats were put out of business by a rail line. I mean only small boats could safely get under that span.

After my retirement I took a long vacation - 5 yrs - to Puerto Moralos, MX - 25 mi south of Cancun- in those 5 years I never saw a selebration for the 5th of May.

During a field school to Michoacán State in the early 70s we took a bus to Puebla and saw a celebration, a review by the local Mexican Army Garrison in honor of their victory over the French. In Puebla it is an annual thing for the Army.

For about five years, I worked on a project which moved Ford of Mexico into Ford North America. Every professional discipline was involved. I was usually in Mexico City the first two weeks of each month. I recall that Cinco de Mayo wasn't that big a deal. The factories were active, as were professional offices.

I live outside Southwest Detroit which has a very large Hispanic contingency (Mexican Town). They have parades and all kinds of celebrations celebrating the holiday.

Cinco de Mayo is a minor holiday in Mexico.

But starting in East Los Angeles they adopted it for Mexican-Americans as their "own" holiday like St Patrick's Day is for the Irish.

My students in East Los Angeles (28 years at two schools) enjoyed it. Students who had newly emigrated from Mexico were surprised about what a big deal it was, but quickly got in on the parties, performances and parades. Besides, if it fell on a school day they had assemblies and a double long lunch period and a double long morning break with dance contests etc. etc.

Biden gave them nothing an open border, but Trump gave them jobs!

Would you rather cross a border and wonder around or have a job?

I can buy one Canon battery for $150 (G60 camcorder), or I can spend $60 for two Wasabi batteries and a charger. Tough choice - not really. I've been using generic batteries for decades with no problems.

Yes, I have a bunch of Wasabi batteries for several cameras and camcorders and a couple of other brands when they were on sale. I read an article years ago that listed the brand names the company that makes Wasabi products builds cores or complete batteries for. (some house brands of big Camera Dealers). That same article hinted strongly that the same factory makes brand name batteries and cores on contract. If it is good enough for the brand name it is good enough for me. And a cheaper price doesn't hurt in the least.

2. you are speaking for a committee
3. you are twins
4. you have a split personality

May the fourth be with you.

I have many Mexican friends who also laugh at it.

And if you google "Mexican Mayonnaise" you get pages of commercial brands and recipes to make your own.

All the way from mildly spiced to OH MY GOD THAT'S HOT!

One teacher at a school where I taught 15 years was from Mexico City and at a faculty pot luck I took two pots of home made chili-con-carne, one safe for most people and one the way I ate it. I also took some small bottles of the BBQ sauce used at the BBQ restaurant my family owned when I was in elementary school in Western Kentucly.

Well, this lady saw the warning sign I put on the hot pot of chili=fancy font letters saying HOT! in orange, yellow and red flames and said she would see what a Gringo considered hot. She got a small bowl, took one heaping spoonful, her face turned red, sweat popped out on her forehead and she started what had to be a world class Spanish Cussing Session while grabbing a glass of iced tea to gulp.
When she got her breath back she looked at me and said "I thought my Aunt Lupe made hot chili, but this makes her's seem mild." "Do you actually eat this or was it a special joke for the potluck?"

I filled a bowl with some and proceeded to eat it while she just stared. I asked if she would like one of the bottles of home made hotsauce = = = NO!

What a country we live in. Imagine a jury finds there is not enough evidence to prove a rape happened, and the defendant is not found guilty of that crime. But then just maybe that’s the way it’s suppose to work.

But after the verdict was read the judge "declared" it was rape - which of course has no legal standing and is just the judge's opinion.

This whol thing is getting boring to the nth degree. But then the rag sheets like the National Enquirer sold like hotcakes off the rakes by the checkout stands at the market where I worked while in college. So there are a lot of people who just love gossip, speculation and dirt. Especially if about people they don't like or disagree with.

This was in response to the Annual Joke that comes around every year!

I taught in East Los Angeles,m 90%+ of the students and a large part of the faculty were Mexican-American and they thought the jokes about "Sinko De Mayo" were hilarious.

Nice shot, I too have an older model Bridge Camera in each family car for "just in case". They came off the $20 clearance table at Good Will and I picked the newest models that had no signs of wear.
Now, I haven't used them yet because I haven't forgotten my camera bag plus a small Panasonic ZS6 I bought at Costco years ago lives in my shirt (I like two pocket shirts.) or jacket pocket 24/7. But one day I might take off running late and not put on my jacket.
