I get these as well. I have a few rules I live by.
1. I don’t open most emails that I don’t know the sender.
2. I do look at the sender info by touching the name of the sender. Frequently, they are some personal email address from a foreign country like .jp
3. I look closely at logos, grammar and spelling. These are a dead giveaway. Logos are blurry and misplaced, spelling, punctuation and grammar are bad.
4. If I think that there is any possibility that it could be real, I never click on the links in the email, I go directly to the real website and login and/or call the phone number listed on the real website.
5. I block sender, move to junk and make sure that the email is deleted.
6. For my business emails, which I send out thousands of emails to publish my events (I am an auctioneer and I promote my upcoming events using emails) I set up a public email address “info@xxxxxxx.com” rather than my direct email. That way I don’t make myself a target by publishing my direct email address. I can see all the spam that comes into that email address and respond to the real ones quite easily.

These guidelines save me quite a bit of stress as I think I avoid most of the potential pitfalls following these guidelines.

I have received the PayPal scams in the past. I spoke directly with PayPal and they told me to ignore and delete them. These people do not have access to my login information. It is annoying and we must stay vigil and discerning. Hope this is helpful.

I live in a very rural area on one side. There is nothing but a hay field and creek where I release them. They probably end up being food for a hawk, snake, or Hooty, that is an owl living near by. Glue traps and poison are big no no's.

I get these types of email and/or texts regularly. Sometimes, it will be from a scammer pretending to be Amazon, Xfinity, etc. . . There have been repeated warnings from various agencies and banks about calling the numbers listed in the email. It's tough, but you must be vigilant and very suspicious of any email or texts regarding payments or purchases, unless it's an actual transaction you made and were expecting email/text confirmation.

Not likely. The ultimate self checkout is Amazon. Soon, the HD's and Walmart's will follow suit and stores will be replaced with warehouses stuffed with robots handling most everything. The stark underpopulated Brick & Mortar stores has been sounding the death knell for a good while.

Where self-checkouts are in use, there is often just one or no regular registers open. That results in long lines at the DIY registers. Also, they will often assign just one employee to oversee all those DIYs, and he can't service three problems at once.

I never use DIY when I have produce because I have to look a code and then enter it. DIY can be very fast is the person knows how to use it, but many have no idea.

In my area (very high population), the grocery stores, Walmart, Home Depot, etc. . . all have more than one employee working the DIY area while having plenty of registers opened during peak hours. It's been --and continues to be-- a good experience for me.

I'm not pleased to hear this. I love self check-out and would not be happy standing in line waiting for someone else to ring up my purchases. On that same note, I am irritated that my state (NJ) does not allow self-service at a gas station. I can do all these things better and faster myself.
