Today the widow of late actor Mickey Jones gave me two of his personal knives. I took stacked image photos of these to bring out more detail.
The first knife is a Buck Model 110. I had several of these over the years that I used as a firefighter. This one is like new and virtually never used.
The second knife was given to Mickey as a thank you for some charity work that he did to help after the 9/11 attacks on the USA. I was particularly appreciative of this as I also participated in the national response to NYC after the destruction of the WTC.
Mickey was involved in all kinds of charity events. He was a successful drummer and actor. You may have seen him on Tool Time with Tim Allen. He was the guy from "KB Construction" and the drummer in Tim's band. In real life Mickey played for drums for Trini Lopez and also spent 10 years playing drums for Kenny Rogers and the 5th Addition.
You probably saw him in commercials playing a heavy biker type. One of his earlier roles was that of the Mechanic/Sheriff in National Lampoon's original "Vacation" with Chevy Chase. He is the guy who threatens "Clark Griswald" with the wrench asking Clark for money. "All of it"
RIP Mickey.

During the spring I don't get many hummingbirds in my back yard. This new guy came in to investigate. he, or she, is pretty young, and was looking into a rose.
As I was walking down from my guys, I spotted this cardinal on the fence, so I thought I would get in some more practice. He gave me two shots and didn't even change his pose! I guess he knew I wasn't a professional, so maybe he was trying to give me a break! Then he promptly flew into the bushes!
Practice makes perfect, so all I can do is just that!
Enjoy. If anything, all of you guys who give us those beauties these should give you a good laugh and bring back memories of when you first started photographing birds!

Great set Joe I have most of the in My Weed Patch , but mowing keeps them pretty well in check. The weeding the first image is giving me a fit at this time, Can't spray it have to pull it It's fairly easy to pull but at best need to be done at least biweekly, my to worst are Poison ivy (trees) and one my daughter call Virgina Creeper ( a fast growing vine) the is all but impossible to pull , deep rooted and woody) I usually spray it but with the constant breeze in the valley you only have a few days or you kill everything near them. The poison ivy trees look like bamboo, I have a few that are nine feet tall and it either too wet or too windy to spray.
