thombar,
I can still walk, but need a cane.
I take hundreds of varied photos in my own yard with a close up lens. I find an interesting subject every few feet. I can take some stunning (I think) shots with an inexpensive screw on lens on my 18-55mm.
Just another way to enjoy photography.
Best regards,
Janko

I do not work from a scooter or wheelchair; however, I do have and love a Bogen Magic Arm. Bought this new over 20 years ago and is just plum handy. Do an internet search.

Hi Thombar - I've been in a wheelchair 26 years (paralyzed from a motorcycle accident), been into photography about 15 years now. My sense of balance is limited, my shoulders gave out on me 4 years ago and I had to get an electric wheelchair. I used to use a Canon XTi with zoom lenses but got a Canon SX40 which gave me more range to shoot so I can get what I can't get to. As long as your hands are pretty steady you might think about getting something along the lines of an SX40 or SX50. The range is incredible and the picture quality is fantastic. Something to think about.

Have been in a power w/c for many years but still go to watch my grandkids playing sports any taking pictures.
I use a DSLR with a zoom lens so the lens can "do the walking"
because I can't. I have found that a monopod is very useful to stabilize the camera and with the adjustable leg it can fit on my cushion or on the w/c footrests or even the floor

Would just like to thank everyone for the great support I have found on this site. I've never submitted a question I didn't get an answer to almost immediately. This is a great group of people!

Hi Thombar, when I saw the photo from SX2002 it popped into my head maybe something like a tree arm would work just great, its what I have used for years while hunting bear, deer etc while up in a tree and running a pro video camera.
In short its an arm that folds up and allows the video guy steady platform for HDV Video (TV Quality) it has multiple joints that are super quiet and smooth to put the camera in most any direction you need to for the shot. I attach mine around a tree trunk with 2 cinch straps, having different weight ratings for smaller or larger cameras. I have to assume it could be clamped or bolted to a wheelchair without many problems, call the business and ask about doing that, I happened to get my last one from www.huntercamcradle.com I believe it was just under $500 but that is for a heavy duty arm for a big camera. Hope that helps some and gives you at least one more option to look into. Have Fun!! Dave

Hi Chapjohn:
Now that sounds like a plan. Would you have any suggestions as to mounting devices? I have a basket on my scooter but should be able to rig something like a tripod mount to actually hold the camera.

Saw one on Amazon yesterday.

Gee, I thought I was the only one that used a wheeled walker and didn't want to mention it. There are some very interesting replies on this thread and I, for one, am making notes. Thanks to all who responded with some ideas. I am sure Thombar got some really good ideas from this thread.

Hello, Thombar!

You may want to Look into ADULT REPAIR STEM CELLS IN MEXICAN Hospitals -- Look at "DNA VITA" In Guadalajara. THEY FIX Everything From AIDS to Arthritis. My [now deceased] business partner owned one of their Franchises near Baja California a few years ago--Then The US Depression Hit Mexico! BOOM!! We Bailed! I Personally SAW MIRACLES! The Chinese & THAI Adult REPAIR Cell HOSPITALS [They Really Take It Seriously] They Give BLIND Kids/Adults BACK THEIR SIGHT IN SIX WEEKS! 6 WEEKS!! If You've Had A FEW BYPASSES & Have NO Veins in Your Legs As A Result...They Draw Your Blood, Spin It Up, Incubate it with some Secret Sauce THEN Inject The Stem Cells Via A Femoral Catheter UP Your Leg & Dump The Cells Directly Into The Top Of Your Heart! BOOM!! TWO Months Later YOU Have An Entirely NEW HEART & VALVES!! Look For "ARSC ADULT REPAIR STEM CELLS" In A Google Search. Try ARSC.com.

I'm Being Funded for Nearly A Billion (US) To BUILD The Worlds Largest Stem Cell Hospital IN BELIZE!! SOON!! WE (A few Friends in Various Stages of Research) Are Going To REGROW LIMBS!! Did This Several Years Ago! A Dentist Friend was Pulling His Lawnmower Up A Wet & Slippery Slope & His Foot Became MULCH! We Got To Him within An hour. Half His Foot Was Gone! We Used Some New Electronic Tech To Stop The Bleeding And Used SILVER CLOTH, Magnets & A Mild Electric Current To REGROW HIS FOOT PAINLESSLY & RIGHT DOWN TO ALL TOES & NAILS!! Hear About This?? NO?? GEEE! Wonder WHY? (NAZI PHARMA-PIGS!!) Our Belize Project Is FOCUSED On BRINGING-IN 450,000 Brain-damaged U.S. TROOPS who SERVED In Middle-east & Got FUBARED from IEDs! We Can FIX Them With ARSCs & "RELOX"

OK--Reply If Interested. ALL Our Project IS NO CHARGE as WE are Funded By True HUMANITARIANS From Canada!! [NOT Rich Americans!!!] NOTE! We Have NOT Started This Project YET--Hopefully in A Couple months. We Are Shopping for 2 JUMBOS, 2 C-130s, a Half Dozen Biz Jets & 4-6 Helocopters... We Bought the WHOLE DOLE Banana & Pineapple PLANTATION (& DOCK SYSTEM) & Just Planted A Huge Mango & Citrus GROVE. ERIC CLAPTON Is Our Neighbor & Just Planted A 10 Acre Organic Veggie Grove & Will trade veggies For Fruit!

Hit Me! I Got Lotza IDEAS! ~Steven~ BLESSINGS TO ALL!!

Bolt a flange to the floor of your scooter and put a short piece of pipe in it. Then stick your monopod in it. Make it short enough that you can move the pod back and forth. Being handicapped is just another challenge... use it to your advantage.... keep on clikin'
