Just thinking ,since I only have the canon 85 1.8 non l prime a week now could this lens be the culprit by messing up some software in camera ??

Hi all I have a 7d /2 since the release last year with no problems, well yesterday I was shooting in manual, I use back button focus I had a 24/70 2.8 lens on which I used since the camera purchase. had a canon 600 ex/rt flash on. I was shooting my niece's bd and snapped something like 30 pics then tried to focus on a different subject and the camera locked up.turned flash off, took flash off camera, shut camera off when turned camera back the pic that I was going to snap was there all blurry as a pre focus state. The only thing that I could do to make camera operating again was to pull the battery out. Any suggestions or anyone have a similar problem? One other thing I had two cards in one recording jpg and the other raw both have plenty of room on them. thanks for any hints of what happened

Hi DJ a couple of days ago I asked a question about the 50 1.8 or the 85 1.8 I took all comments into consideration and bought the Canon 85 1.8 I received it yesterday. as other posts said you need a longer room since I'm shooting a 7d/2 with crop 1.8 don't know what body your using. I was looking for a portrait lens and short dof. I only took less than 100 pics last night , for $350 and a $50 gift card I am very pleased with can't beat it! I think it's on par with all my L lens. I'm pretty much In you're situation I own the 16/35 2.8 24/70 2.8 and the 100/400 ver 1. I wanted two dabble with portrait, as I said being only 300$ final cost you won't be disappointed as I see so far. Now I just have to convince wife that the 70/200 is necessary:) enjoy

Hey everyone just put my 100/400 on and saw what was visible at 100 mm. the 85 would be ok I feel based on that. I have a bit over 13 feet from camera to subject and 3-1/2 feet to my backdrops. lighting is not a problem I have a couple of soft box's and two 600 flashes . thanks lfingar for the referb idear. Thanks everyone for your responses bill

Hi all I have the canon 7d/2 somewhere down the road I may also have a full frame. I now want to get a 1.8 prime will the 85/1.8 be too much reach with the 1.6 crop for portrait pics or would the 50/1.8 be a better choice now. Just wondering how far would the camera have to be from subject to get a upper torso shot? Thanks for your opinions Bill

In canon learning center with Rudy Winston he says that the flicker control will work only with 100 or 120 Hz. well in the USA we have 60 Hz . Am I missing something or does canon put all selling points out there even if you cannot use it In the states.

Sorry Morrison after driving 2 1/2 hours to see a race and taking two hours to get out of parking lot after race it's not worth it for me even Pocono they went from 500-400 .I even wrote them both and they said they'd keep it in mind I disagree with 400 miles. Sorry everyone for me posting my comment in this thread.

Thank you mt shooter for posting these pics with the 7d2. I have the 16/35 2.8 24/70 2.8 and ver1 of 100/400. this year I got hooked on birding and into NASCAR which I have taken the 100/400 and always looked for more reach. Im looking to purchase the 1.4 extender but now thinking of purchasing the 150/600 based on reviews coming. Just wondering do I loose any functions with this lens and the 7d2 since I'm a stickler with staying with OEM lenses thanks bill
